MEET THE OWNER: DAVE FINLEY

“I started this journey many years ago. My father loves to tell stories about when I was little and asking him many many questions about cars and semis and construction equipment. He didn't have much knowledge in this area, but fortunately one of my uncles did. My natural curiosity in mechanics had me asking him all the questions that my dad couldn't answer. As I got older and got my first car, I did all the work on it and worked on all my friends' vehicles. After graduating high school, I went straight into tech school for automotive, diesel, high performance, and business management. 


I spent a few years working in dealerships and a couple private shops. I have always wanted my own shop in a small town, but the timing was never right. Eventually the Lord guided me to Roanoke and set me on the path to making my dream a reality. I have never claimed to be a brilliant person. All I know is how to work with my hands.

I am very fortunate to have such a wonderful team at Finley’s Garage. Our lead technicians are brothers, and my receptionist is my daughter. Our technicians Henry and Raymond grew up in Princeville and I grew up in Dunlap. Henry and Raymond have different strengths and weaknesses which works well in the shop. Henry has been part of the Roanoke community since the early 2000's. 

Ultimately at Finley’s Garage, we love being able to help people. At our shop, not only do we repair vehicles, but we also try to educate our customers about their vehicles so they can understand what steps we are taking and why it is important to have the repair done. We try to treat everyone as family. In a small town everyone is practically family.”
